There are two names for this pepper because they are called differently when dried or fresh. In their dried state, they are called ancho peppers. In their fresh state, they are poblano peppers. These are popular in Mexican dishes as they add many flavors but not a lot of heat. They are 1,000-2,000 on the Scoville scale.
