Grow Big Sunflower Blooms in Small Spaces

Enjoy the bold beauty of a classic sunflower without the towering height. Gardeners Basics Sunspot Dwarf Sunflower Seeds produce compact annual plants with vibrant golden-yellow petals, dark centers, and dramatic blooms.

Sunspot sunflowers typically grow 18 to 24 inches tall while producing impressive flowers approximately 6 to 10 inches across. Their manageable size makes them an excellent choice for containers, patios, raised beds, borders, small gardens, and short annual hedges.

Why Gardeners Love Sunspot Sunflowers

• Compact dwarf plants grow approximately 18 to 24 inches tall

• Large golden-yellow blooms can reach approximately 6 to 10 inches across

• Excellent for containers, raised beds, borders, patios, and small gardens

• Bright flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators

• Sturdy stems and dramatic blooms work beautifully in cut-flower arrangements

• Large seeds and fast growth make this a fun variety for children and beginner gardeners

• Heirloom, non-GMO, non-hybrid, and open-pollinated

How to Plant Sunspot Sunflower Seeds

Direct sow sunflower seeds outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Choose a location that receives full sun and has well-draining soil.

Plant the seeds 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. Keep the soil consistently moist during germination without allowing it to become waterlogged. Once established, Sunspot sunflowers are easy to maintain and perform well in warm, sunny conditions.

Seeds may also be started indoors 2 to 3 weeks before the average last frost date. Because sunflowers can be sensitive to root disturbance, use biodegradable pots that can be planted directly into the garden.

Perfect for Containers and Pollinator Gardens

The compact growth habit makes Sunspot one of the best sunflower varieties for flowerpots and space-conscious gardens. Plant them along walkways, at the front of flower beds, around patios, or in containers where taller sunflower varieties would be impractical.

Their large yellow flowers help welcome bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Mature seed heads may also provide food for visiting birds later in the season.

Heirloom and Open-Pollinated Seeds

Sunspot is an heirloom, non-GMO, non-hybrid, open-pollinated sunflower variety. Allow mature flower heads to dry completely if you would like to collect and save seeds for future planting.

Gardeners Basics seeds are grown and packed in the USA by our small family-owned and operated business. Plant Sunspot dwarf sunflower seeds for spectacular yellow blooms, compact plants, and classic sunflower charm in nearly any sunny garden.
